Book a seat in the 1st class carriage for more legroom and a dining car. The view across the Rioni Valley is worth the extra 10 GEL. From Zugdidi station, it's a 10-minute walk or a 5 GEL taxi ride to Stay Inn.
Flag one down on Rustaveli Street. Agree the fare in advance—drivers don't use meters. Short trips within town should never cost more than 10 GEL. A polite 'thank you' in Mingrelian (didid) goes a long way.
Pre-book via app to avoid haggling at the airport. The drive is straightforward on the E60, but check the driver has working AC in summer. Cash is fine but the app takes cards.
