A day-by-day plan for Wuhan: the best attractions in order, where to eat, how to get around — with free hotel briefings for your stay.

Day 1

Arrive & Explore the Highlights

Morning
Tan Hualin Historic Street

A 1.2-kilometre street in Wuchang's old town, lined with early 20th-century buildings: former churches, consulates and mission houses, now with a few coffee shops and galleries.

🕐 Open 24 hours (galleries 10:00–17:00)

Free entry

💡 Enter from the north end near Gulou Tower and walk downhill. The small art exhibitions in the renovated buildings are free and often excellent. No entry fee, shops optional.

Afternoon
Yangtze River Bridge Walk

Walk or cycle across the 1.7-kilometre double-decker bridge built in 1957. The lower level carries trains, the upper level road and pedestrian paths. Panoramas of the river, the tower and the city sky

🕐 Open 24 hours (path is uncovered, weather permitting)

Free entry

💡 Cross from the Wuchang side at sunset – the light is best, and you can watch the trains rumble past directly below. Allow 40 minutes at a leisurely pace.

Day 2

Deeper Into Wuhan

Morning
East Lake Greenway

A 100-kilometre cycling and walking path around East Lake. Rent a bike for cheap or just walk sections. Views across the water to hills, plenty of benches and bridges.

🕐 Open 24 hours

💡 Start at Tingtao Scenic Area – quieter than the main entrance. Bring your own water, not many stalls in between sections.

Midday
Hubei Provincial Museum

A world-class museum with an extraordinary collection from the ancient Zeng state, including the 2,400-year-old bronze chime bells. Free entry but you need to book online in advance.

🕐 09:00–17:00, closed Mondays (except public holidays)

💡 Book your slot at least two days ahead on their WeChat mini-programme. The chime bell performance (lunchtime, small fee) is fantastic but tickets sell out quickly.

Final Favourites & Departure

Morning
Yellow Crane Tower Park

The iconic five-storey tower rebuilt many times over centuries, set on Snake Hill overlooking the Yangtze River and Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge. Entry fee is mod

💡 Go on a weekday before 10am to avoid tour buses. The view from the top is worth the climb – the elevator costs extra but is slow.

Getting Around Wuhan

Airport Taxi From 150 CNY 40 min

Always use the official taxi queue outside arrivals — drivers there use meters. The hotel's address in pinyin is 'Guangyuchang Yangjia Bay'. Late-night surcharge of 50% after 11pm.

Airport Bus Line 1 From 30 CNY 50 min

Drops you at Wuchang Railway Station — from there take a 15-20 minute taxi (20-30 CNY) to the Kamil. Works well if metro is closed.

Wuhan Metro Line 4 From 5 CNY 15 min

If arriving at Wuchang Railway Station from another city, transfer to Line 4 directly at the station. Three stops to Yangjia Bay — no need to change lines.

Wuhan Metro Line 2 From 7 CNY 60 min

Exit from Yangjia Bay Station's exit B or C — both are a 500-metre walk to the Kamil Hotel. Avoid rush hour (8-9am, 5-7pm) if you have luggage.
