Hotels near Railway Station (Estação dos Caminhos de Ferro de Nampula) →Large covered market selling everything from fresh cassava and dried fish to cheap second-hand clothes. Loud, chaotic, and very local. Good for real street food.

Large modern cathedral with twin towers and a wide plaza. Simple interior with stained glass. No entrance fee but donations accepted. Peaceful spot for a rest.
🕐 Daily 8:00-18:00
💡 Best visited for the 9am Sunday mass — the choir sings in Makua and Portuguese, and the congregation is welcoming. Otherwise, it’s completely quiet. Photographs allowed.
Sandy beach bay about 4km east of centre. Calm, shallow water and a few thatched barracas selling cold drinks and fresh seafood. Locals come on weekends.
🕐 Open access, always
💡 Take a chapa (minibus) from the main bus rank for 10 MZN. Weekdays are nearly empty. Bring your own snacks — restaurant options are limited. No swimming at high tide as currents pick up.

Getting Around Nampula
These shared minibuses run set routes—hail one heading east on Av. da Independência. They won't drop you at the terminal gate but at the main road junction. Walk the last 800 m. Cash only, no change given.
Find drivers waiting near Hotel Executivo's entrance or at the taxi rank on Av. Josina Machel. Negotiate short trips (e.g. to the market) at 200–300 MZN. For longer cross-city, expect 500 MZN.
Not for airport transfer (station is 4 km from the hotel), but useful for day trips. The third-class carriage is crowded; pay for primeira classe (first class) at ~700 MZN for a seat and window. Tickets sell at the station—no online booking.
Arrange with the hotel reception beforehand; they'll send a driver with a sign. Metered taxis are rare—agree a fixed price before getting in. 600 MZN is typical for airport to centre.
