Things to Do in Dompu

The central town square with grass, benches, and a small fountain. Locals gather here in the evenings for walking, chatting, and street food. Good for people-watching.

💡 Visit after sunset when the street food stalls set up. Try the pisang goreng (fried banana) from the lady on the east side. Bring a mat to sit on the grass.

A small but pretty waterfall on the Banta River, about 5m high, with a natural pool for swimming. Surrounded by lush vegetation. Accessible via a short walk from the road.

💡 The path can be slippery after rain. Best visited in the dry season (April–October). Bring insect repellent and a towel. No entrance fee, but a small donation to the local caretaker is appreciated.

A long stretch of black sand beach popular with surfers, especially from May to September. Good for swimming in calm patches, and you can watch local fishing boats come in.

💡 Bring your own food and water. There is a basic warung but supplies run out. Best in early morning before the wind picks up.

The main mosque in town, with a simple white facade and a large prayer hall. Visitors can walk around the grounds and observe daily life. Non-Muslims are welcome outside prayer times.

💡 Dress modestly (long sleeves and trousers or a sarong). You can ask at the office for a short tour. Best visited around 4pm when the light is nice for photos.

A roadside spot with clear views of the massive Tambora caldera. You can see the shape of the mountain and the scar from the 1815 eruption. No hiking required.
