Getting Around Dampe

Airport to Colombo Fort Train + Bus to Dampe From 100 LKR 210 min

Take a tuk-tuk from the airport to Katunayake Station (5 mins, 200 LKR). Board the Colombo-bound train (slightly scenic, 40 mins, 30 LKR). At Colombo Fort, switch to a bus to Dampe from the nearby Bastian Mawatha bus stand. Trains can run late by 30–60 mins; avoid this if you have a tight connection.

Airport to Colombo Bus + Local Bus to Dampe From 150 LKR 180 min

Take the express bus (route 187) from the airport to Pettah Bus Station in Colombo (1 hour, 70 LKR). Then catch a local bus heading towards Kirindiwela or Gampaha; ask the conductor to drop you at Dampe Junction. From there, it's a 15-minute walk or a three-wheeler ride (300 LKR). The buses are hot and crowded, but it's dirt cheap.

Local Tuk-Tuk (Three-Wheeler) From 300 LKR 10 min

For short hops, flag one at Dampe Junction. Negotiate before hopping in — 300 LKR is fair. If the resort is hard to find, share your phone with the driver for Google Maps directions, as locals rarely know the St. Michelle name.

Airport Taxi (Private Transfer) From 8000 LKR 90 min

Book through the hotel in advance for a fixed rate and avoid haggling. Drivers often take the A1 highway via Kadawatha; expect no tolls. Confirm the car can handle Dampe's narrow final road to the resort.
