FIFA World Cup 2026 runs from 11 June to 19 July 2026 across 16 host cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The US hosts 11 venues, playing most of the group stage and all knockout matches from the quarter-finals onward. If you're planning to attend a match — or to be in a US city during the tournament — here is what matters for hotel access, stadium distances, and how different host cities compare as bases.

MetLife Stadium, New York/New Jersey — the Final venue

The World Cup Final (19 July 2026) is at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, 8 miles west of Midtown Manhattan. Hotel access: hotels in Midtown Manhattan are 30–40 minutes from the stadium by NJ Transit train from Penn Station (direct, 20 minutes to Meadowlands station) or by Uber (highly variable in traffic). Hotels directly in East Rutherford/Rutherford are closer to the ground but offer less to do in the evening. Most fans base themselves in Manhattan and train in for matches.

The New York/New Jersey venue is hosting the Final, both semi-finals, and a quarter-final — the most matches of any US host city. It is also, predictably, the most expensive hotel market of the tournament. Book accommodation for July 14–19 (the Final week) now if you plan to be there.

SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles — the semi-final venue

SoFi Stadium is in Inglewood, 15 miles from Downtown LA. Transit: the K Line (Metro Rail) connects to Inglewood from Crenshaw/LAX Transit Center, with a connection from LAX Terminal 9. Hotels in Inglewood, Culver City, and Manhattan Beach are the closest to the stadium. Hollywood and Downtown LA are 35–50 minutes by car (traffic-dependent). The Los Angeles hotel guide covers the neighbourhoods within practical stadium distance.

AT&T Stadium, Dallas/Arlington — group stage hub

AT&T Stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys) is in Arlington, between Dallas and Fort Worth. No direct rail link from Dallas: access is by car, rideshare, or tournament shuttle. Hotels in Arlington are closest to the ground; Dallas Uptown and the Arts District are 30 minutes by car without traffic. The Dallas tournament window includes multiple group stage matches, with strong Japan, Brazil, and England-area fan demand expected. See the Dallas hotel guide and the best time to visit Dallas — June–July is hot (37–40°C, dry heat) and hotel demand peaks during the tournament window.

Levi's Stadium, San Francisco Bay Area

Levi's Stadium is in Santa Clara, 45 miles from San Francisco. The Caltrain (from San Francisco station to Santa Clara, 60–75 minutes) is the main public transit option. Hotels in Santa Clara and Sunnyvale are walking distance from the stadium; San Francisco hotels add a Caltrain journey but give you the city's restaurant and cultural access in the evenings. The Bay Area hotel market is expensive year-round; tournament weeks will push prices to peak levels.

Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia

Philadelphia's venue is accessible from Amtrak's Northeast Corridor (Philadelphia 30th Street Station is 30 minutes from New York Penn Station, 1h 15m from Washington DC) — making Philadelphia a potential base for fans with matches in both New York and Philadelphia. The stadium is in South Philly, 3 miles from Center City by rideshare or Broad Street Line subway. The Philadelphia hotel guide covers the neighborhoods within practical transit distance. Philadelphia consistently offers better hotel value than New York for the same tournament access.

Other US host cities: Seattle, Miami, Boston, Kansas City, Atlanta, Houston

The remaining US host venues:

  • Seattle (Lumen Field) — walkable from Downtown Seattle. Direct Sounder train service from Tacoma. Best access of any US host city.
  • Hard Rock Stadium, Miami — 15 miles north of Downtown Miami in Miami Gardens. Rideshare or designated shuttles; no direct rail. June/July is hot and humid (33–36°C).
  • Gillette Stadium, Boston/Foxborough — 30 miles south of Boston. Commuter Rail (Franklin/Foxboro Line) runs match-day service. Base in Boston and travel in.
  • Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City — accessible by rideshare from Downtown KC. Kansas City's Crossroads Arts District and Power & Light District are the main bases.
  • Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta — walking distance from Downtown Atlanta; MARTA rail from Hartsfield-Jackson Airport stops at adjacent State Farm Arena.
