Things to Do in Zwickau

A Gothic hall church from the 13th century with a soaring spire and remarkable late-Gothic winged altar. The interior is plain but the stone vaulting and stained glass are striking.

💡 Entry to the main nave is free; the tower climb costs €2 but gives panoramic views. Go just before noon to hear the carillon play Schumann melodies.

A paved walking and cycling path along the Mulde River, running east from the city centre through meadows and past old mills. Benches and little beaches along the way.

💡 Start at the 'Muldenbrücke' bridge and head south for 2 km to the quiet 'Pöhlau' area – great for a picnic without crowds. Bikes free from the city's rental scheme.

The central market square ringed by Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings. The 15th-century town hall and a statue of Robert Schumann anchor the space. Farmers' market twice weekly.

💡 Best on Wednesday or Saturday mornings during the market for cheap local produce and street food. Free walking tours start here at 11am Saturdays.

The famous motorcycle race track on the outskirts. You can walk the public paths around the circuit for free, especially along the start-finish straight and through the forest sections.
