Getting Around Yamagata
Buy a round-trip ticket at the airport counter for 2000 JPY – saves a bit. The bus stops right outside Yamagata Station's west exit; the hotel is a 2-minute walk.
Use this for day trips to Yamadera temple (22 mins, 240 JPY). The hotel's west exit is directly across from the station; buy a Suica card at the JR counter for seamless travel.
The 'Yamagata Marugoto Pass' (600 JPY) gives unlimited city bus rides for a day. Pick up a route map at the station information desk – buses are numbered clearly in Japan.
