Things to Do in Tisens - Tesimo

A flat, shaded 3km path along an old irrigation channel. Follows the natural curve of the ridge with views over the Adige Valley and Dolomites.

💡 Start from the car park near the Prissian church. The trail is wheelchair-friendly for the first 1.5km. Best in late afternoon for softer light and fewer hikers.

A 40m cascade dropping over a red porphyry rock face. Accessible via a short uphill path from the village, with a bench at the base for a break.

💡 Go after a heavy rain or in early spring when snowmelt swells the flow. The path is slippy – wear grippy shoes. Bring a waterproof jacket for mist spray on windy days.

Main village church with Gothic frescoes from the 15th century. The wooden altar and stone reliefs are well preserved, and the bell tower has a distinctive onion dome.

💡 Check the side door in the rear – it often stays unlocked when the main entrance is closed. The fresco behind the altar is best seen around 11am when sunlight hits it directly.

Well-kept traditional South Tyrolean farmstead with original tools, kitchen and bedrooms from the 1800s. Run by a local family; entry is €3. Small orchard outside is free to wander.

💡 The museum is closed on Sunday but the orchard and farm animals are visible from the fence. Go mid-week before 11am to avoid the bus groups from Meran.

A medieval castle with around 2000 hours of annual sunshine. The grounds are free to explore; the famous 350-year-old vine in the courtyard is the main draw.

💡 Go in late September when the vine's grapes are harvested. The castle interior costs €8 to enter, but the outer courtyard and vine are fully accessible without a ticket.
