Things to Do in Sterzing - Vipiteno

A 46-metre medieval tower, part of the old town fortifications. You can walk right to the base and see the stonework and clock face up close.

💡 Entry inside is usually locked, but you get the best view of the tower from the arcaded street (Bindergasse) just off the square.

A Gothic church from the 14th century with a tall bell tower. Inside, fine carved altarpieces and frescoes. The church stands just behind the main square.

💡 Check if the church is open for visiting; it can be closed outside service times (masses 8am and 10am Sundays). The tower is visible from the Grabenweg path at the back.

A small local history museum housed in a Gothic building. Exhibits cover mining, crafts and local life. Free entry only on certain days.

💡 Free entry on the first Sunday of each month. Otherwise it's €4. Ask at the tourist office for a free combined ticket with the Mining Museum.

A paved path following the Eisack river south of the old town. Runs through meadows and under old bridges, with views of the alpine valley and vineyards on the slopes.

💡 Start at the footbridge behind the parking lot at Via della Stazione. The path is flat and good for a 30-minute round trip. Stop at the riverside benches for a picnic.

The medieval main square lined with colourful frescoed buildings. The 15th-century Town Hall stands at one end, with a notable oriel window and the Zwölferturm tower.
