Getting Around Sigiriya
Book through the hotel or a trusted local operator like PickMe. Rates are fixed for pre-booked rides; avoid touts at the airport who quote double.
Rarely the fastest option. From airport, take the train to Colombo Fort (1.5 hrs, 100 LKR). Then walk to Bastian Mawatha bus station for a Dambulla bus (3 hrs, 250 LKR) and a tuk-tuk from there. Trains are old but scenic.
Negotiate the fare before getting in. Standard rate is 50 LKR per km; the hotel is about 3 km from the main road. Many tuk-tuks wait near the rock entrance.
Take the 187 bus from airport to Colombo Bastian Mawatha (45 min, 150 LKR), then change to a Dambulla-bound bus (3 hrs, 350 LKR). From Dambulla bus stand, a tuk-tuk to the hotel costs 800 LKR. Keep small change handy.
