Deeper Into Sainyabuli
The oldest temple in town, set back from the road in a shady compound. The main sim (ordination hall) has faded murals and a tall, gilded Buddha. The grounds are quiet and well kept.

A large, whitewashed Buddhist stupa on a small hill just south of town. It's a local pilgrimage site and offers a clear view over Sainyabuli and the surrounding valley.

💡 Elephants come to the river around 9am and again around 4pm – show up half an hour early for a good spot. It's a 5km cycle or 20,000 kip tuk-tuk ride from town. Bring binoculars; the best view is from the bamboo platform on the far bank.

Getting Around Sainyabuli
It's a short walk (600m), but take a tuk-tuk if you're carrying heavy bags after a long bus ride.
Negotiate the fare before you get in; agree on 300,000 LAK if you book via the guesthouse directly.
Sit on the left side for better views of the Mekong. Bring a scarf for dust.
Share the cost with other travellers at the guesthouse. It drops you right at the door — useful for luggage.
