Deeper Into Rajshahi

Varendra Research Museum

One of the oldest museums in Bangladesh, housing an extensive collection of ancient sculptures, coins, inscriptions, and terracotta artefacts from the region's Hindu and Buddhist past.

💡 Go early on a weekday to avoid school groups. Ask the curator about the 9th-century copperplate grants kept in the back room.

A cluster of 9th-century Hindu temples arranged around a large pond, including the elaborate Govinda Temple with its terracotta panels and the massive Shiva Temple.

Getting Around Rajshahi

Rajshahi City Bus Route 2 From 20 BDT 15 min

The bus drops you at Seroil Bazaar; it’s a 5-minute walk west to the hotel. Buses are crowded and slow in peak hours (8–10 AM, 5–7 PM) — avoid them with luggage.

Local Rickshaw or CNG Auto From 30 BDT 10 min

Use a CNG (auto-rickshaw) for longer trips — negotiate down to 50–80 BDT from the railway station. For short hops, a rickshaw costs 30–50 BDT; agree the fare before you get on.

Rajshahi-Dhaka Intercity Express From 350 BDT 240 min

Book the Silkcity Express (first class AC for 550 BDT) if you want a quiet ride — it’s punctual. From the station to the hotel, take a CNG for 70 BDT; taxis are scarce after 9 PM.

Hotel Nice Airport Transfer From 500 BDT 25 min

Pre-book with the hotel for 500 BDT; taxis at the airport often quote 700–800 BDT. The drive follows the Padma River — ask the driver to take the river road if traffic is light.
