Day 2

Deeper Into Phrae

Morning
Wat Phra Non (Wat Phra That Cho Hae Campus)

A calm temple with a large reclining Buddha in a simple open-sided hall. The grounds have old trees and a few meditation huts.

🕐 Daily 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

💡 It's often empty. Excellent spot to sit and read or just be quiet. The monks sometimes offer free meditation guidance if you ask politely.

Midday
Phae Mueang Phi (Ghost Valley)

A surreal landscape of eroded sandstone pillars, shaped like giant mushrooms. The area is spacious, good for walking and photos, with little shade.

🕐 Daily 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM

💡 Bring water and a hat - no shade at all. Early morning has fewer tourists and softer light. The nearby forest trail is worth a short detour.

Final Favourites & Departure

Morning
Wat Phra That Cho Hae

A revered 9-tiered chedi on a hill, offering panoramic views of Phrae valley. The temple compound has old Lanna-style buildings and a peaceful atmosphere.

💡 Go just before sunset for the best light on the chedi. The climb up the naga stairway is about 200 steps, take it slow.

Final meal

Khao Soy Je Lek

Riverside Rim Yom Restaurant

Getting Around Phrae

Local Blue Bus From 15 THB 25 min

Runs infrequent and stops at the bus station, not the hotel. You'll need a short songthaew hop from there. Only worth it for budget travellers.

Phrae Airport Taxi From 150 THB 15 min

Taxis are scarce outside flight times. Book via your hotel or grab a green-plate tuktuk for 100 THB if you're light on luggage.

Songthaew (Red Truck) From 20 THB 20 min

Flag it down anywhere on the main road. Tell the driver 'Loft Hotel' - they know it. Pay on exit, exact change helps.

Grab Taxi From 80 THB 10 min

Grab works in Phrae but driver supply is thin. If you're stuck, call the hotel - they can arrange a local driver for the same price.
