Modern museum in a renovated 1920s newspaper office. Focuses on contemporary Finnish and Northern Nordic art, with changing exhibitions. Free entry to both permanent and temporary shows.

Neoclassical cathedral built 1777, with a free interior open to visitors. Features a Gustav III-era pulpit and simple whitewashed walls. The bell tower dates from 1833 and is visible from most of the city centre.

A network of small islands in the Oulujoki delta, crisscrossed by wooden footbridges and marked trails. Old mill channels and weirs create a calm, green pocket just north of the city centre.
