Getting Around Mount Lavinia
Sri Lanka hasn't had trams since the 1960s. For Mount Lavinia, stick to train or bus—tuk-tuks from the station cost around 150 LKR if you're carrying luggage.
Take the slow train from Colombo Fort—it's 40 mins, 50 LKR, and hugs the coast. Alight at Mount Lavinia, then walk north past the police station; Aurora is the peach-coloured house on the right.
Board a blue or red bus heading south from Pettah. Get off at 'Mount Lavinia Beach' stop, then it's a 200m walk uphill past the church to Aurora. Avoid rush hour—bags get crushed.
Use the official airport taxi counter (not touts) for fixed rates. Ask for a driver who knows Mount Lavinia's side streets—Aurora is off Galle Road near the station.
