Museum in Metz

A substantial museum covering Merovingian artefacts, medieval architecture (including part of the cloister of the former Abbaye Saint-Arnould), and fine arts from the 16th to 20th centuries. The collections are extensive and well-presented.

A 13th-century fortified gate and bridge that once controlled access across the Moselle. You can walk around and through the structure, with a small grassy area along the river. It's well-preserved and shows the medieval defensive system.

💡 The best photos are from the path on the north bank of the Moselle, looking back. The inside of the fortifications is often closed, but the exterior and walkway are always free.
