Things to Do in Lixouri

A traditional open-air food market held twice a week in the main square. Locals sell olives, honey, cheese, and seasonal fruit.

A quiet library and small museum in a neoclassical building with local history exhibits, maps, and old photographs of Cephalonia.

💡 Ask at the front desk to see the 16th-century manuscript collection – it's not always on display but they'll show it if you ask nicely.

A 19th-century stone church with a tall bell tower and an interior of painted wooden iconostasis. Still used for Sunday liturgy.

💡 Go on a Saturday morning around 10am – the priest sometimes opens the side crypt which holds old burial slabs.

A flat, clean waterfront walk running from the ferry dock past cafes to the small fishing harbour. Good for early evening strolling.

💡 Come just before sunset and buy a coffee at one of the kiosks – the view across the bay to Argostoli turns orange and quiet.

A short gravel trail from the edge of town down to a pebble beach with shallow water. The path passes through olive trees and a small chapel.
