Things to Do in Lippstadt

A flat, paved path along the Lippe River running through the town centre. Benches, willow trees, and plenty of swans. Good for a 30-minute stroll.

💡 Start at the Fischerpförtchen bridge and walk east towards the spa gardens. You'll see old watermills along the way.

A Gothic hall church from the 13th century with a striking 62m tower. The interior has ribbed vaults, fragments of medieval frescoes, and a quiet atmosphere.

💡 Go during a weekday morning when it's emptiest. Look for the carved wooden altar from 1520 in the north aisle.

A surviving section of Lippstadt's medieval defensive wall, about 500m long. You can walk the rampart and see three original gun embrasures.

💡 Come at sunset for good light on the stonework. The view east gives you the church spires. The wall is behind the post office off Rixbecker Straße.

A 16th-century Weser Renaissance building on the market square. The façade has ornate gables and a 1589 stone relief. The ground floor is open as a public foyer with changing art displays.

💡 Pop inside to see the restored mural in the main hall depicting the town's coat of arms. The car park behind the building is free on weekends.

Small local museum in a half-timbered house. Exhibits on town history from the 12th century to the 1950s, plus a room of mineral samples from the Sauerland.

💡 Free admission every day, but they accept small donations in the entrance box. The textile club hosts a hand-weaving demo on the first Saturday of each month.
