The historic crescent-shaped harbour lined with fishing boats, cafes, and restored Ottoman buildings. Perfect for a free stroll.
🕐 24/7; cafes close around 23:00
Free entry💡 Grab a coffee from a takeaway spot and sit on the stone benches near the castle—much cheaper than the harbourfront restaurants.
Hotels near Kyrenia Harbour Promenade →A 16th-century Venetian fortress with a shipwreck museum inside. Wander the ramparts and courtyard for harbour views.
🕐 Mon-Sun 08:00-19:00 (summer), 08:00-17:00 (winter); shipwreck museum fee applies
Free entry💡 Visit late afternoon to avoid crowds and catch the sunset over the marina. The shipwreck exhibit costs a small fee but the castle grounds are free.

Deeper Into Kyrenia
A shaded green space with playgrounds, benches, and a small duck pond. Good for a cheap picnic away from the tourist strip.
🕐 Daily 07:00-21:00
💡 Buy snacks at the nearby market on Ziya Rizki Street—prices are half what you'd pay near the harbour. The park's water fountain is drinkable.
A fenced-off abandoned resort city from 1974, viewed from the public beach promenade in nearby Famagusta. Photograph the empty hotels and rusty ferris wheel.
🕐 Viewpoint accessible 24/7; beach area open dawn-dusk
💡 The viewpoint is free but parking nearby costs £2. Go early morning for fewer crowds and better light. Do not attempt to enter—it's strictly off-limits.

Final Favourites & Departure
A 13th-century Augustinian monastery in the hills above Kyrenia. Entry is low-cost (around £4) and the cloisters and views are serene.
💡 Walk up from the village of Bellapais instead of driving—you'll save on parking and see terraced gardens. Free on some public holidays; check local calendar.

Getting Around Kyrenia
Look for the #2 or #2A bus heading west along the coast. The stop is just past the big Karakol roundabout. Pay the driver — no change given, so bring small coins.
Get off at the final stop (Kyrenia station), not earlier. From there it's a 15-minute walk or a €1 minibus ride to Celice. Avoid 08:00–09:00 and 17:00–18:00 when it’s packed with commuters.
These are shared yellow minibuses — wave them down anywhere on the main coast road. They run a fixed route from town to Karaoğlanoğlu. You'll pay less than a private taxi but expect a cramped ride with locals.
Pre-book with a local firm like Cyprus Taxi for a fixed €40 flat rate. Metered taxis at the airport can cost up to €60. Ask for a newer Mercedes — many drivers still use older cars.
