Getting Around Kuta, Bali

Bali Urban Metro (Planned, not operational) From 0 0

No metro exists in Bali as of 2024. Do not trust online claims of a 'Bali Metro' – it's a scam or future project. Stick to taxis or motorbike taxis.

Blue Bird Taxi (Metered) From IDR 10,000 (flagfall) 5 min

Only use cars with 'Blue Bird Group' sticker and working meter; many fakes exist. Average trip within Kuta costs IDR 30-50k.

Bemo (Local Minibus) From IDR 10,000–15,000 10 min

This is a local shared minibus — no fixed stops, shout 'Kuta' at the driver. Only for the adventurous: it’s cramped, hot, and routes are confusing. Useful for short Kuta-to-Legian hops if you’re on a shoestring.

Airport Taxi (Grab or Blue Bird) From IDR 120,000 20 min

Use the Grab app from the arrival hall – it's cheaper than the airport taxi counter. For Blue Bird, walk to the main road outside the terminal to avoid surcharges.

Bike Taxi (Gojek/Grab Bike) From IDR 15,000 12 min

Fastest way through Kuta traffic. Sit on the pillion seat properly and hold the grab handle. Helmets provided but check for scratches first.

Blue Bird Taxi From IDR 15,000–30,000 (local trips) 5 min

Only use Blue Bird (light blue, 'Blue Bird' logo) — they run on the meter. Fake 'Blue Bird' taxis with dark paint overcharge. Flag them on the street or call 0361 701111.
