Things to Do in Kozhikode

A long, busy seafront promenade with a lighthouse and old pier. Popular for evening walks, sunset views, and street food stalls selling fried seafood.

💡 Head to the fishing jetty at the south end around 5pm – you can buy just-caught squid and prawns directly from boats.

A well-maintained square around a historic artificial pond with a musical fountain, lawns, and a covered walkway. Calm spot in the city centre with benches under trees.

💡 Come at dusk when the fountain lights up and local joggers start their rounds. The adjacent S.M. Street food stalls are worth a detour.

A peaceful walking path along the banks of the Kallayi River, shaded by old banyan trees. Watch ferries and local boats drift by while locals fish from the banks.

💡 Walk north from the Kallayi Bridge around 6am – you’ll see kingfishers diving and cormorants drying their wings on the rocks. Bring water as there are no shops nearby.

A 28-metre lighthouse built in 1904, painted white with red bands. You can climb to the top for panoramic views of the coastline and city rooftops.

💡 Entry is free but you need to sign in at the base. Skip the queue by going on a weekday morning – weekends get crowded with families.

A small but dense museum housing bronze statues, ivory carvings, old coins, and temple woodcarvings from the 12th century. The art gallery upstairs displays local paintings.

💡 Entry costs about ₹20 (roughly 20p). Ask the guard to unlock the back room – it holds a rare collection of ancient Kerala mural replicas.
