Modest 19th-century church with a whitewashed facade and a simple wooden altar. The interior has faded frescoes and old pews. Quiet and rarely visited by tourists.

💡 Mass is at 8am on Sundays—go then if you want to see the church fully open. On weekdays the side door is usually unlocked but the main nave might be closed.

Main square with a central fountain, manicured gardens and benches. Local families gather here in the evenings. It's a good spot to people-watch or rest after walking.

A short but steep climb up a dirt path to a large cross overlooking the town and the valley. Views stretch to the Andes on clear days. No railings or facilities—bring water and sturdy shoes.

💡 Go at sunrise around 5:30am. The light is dramatic and you'll likely have the place to yourself. Avoid afternoons: the sun beats down hard and there is no shade.

The Friendship Park is a calm green space with paved paths, a small lake with ducks, and a playground. Good for a picnic or a lazy afternoon. Benches are plentiful and shaded by eucalyptus trees.

Small museum dedicated to the memory of the internal armed conflict in Peru. Houses photographs, personal objects and testimonies from the 1980s and 90s. Stark but important.
