💡 Go in the late afternoon for the view and a breeze. The caretaker sometimes turns up and can tell stories if you have Indonesian. Free to enter, just bring water.

Long stretch of grey sand just east of the port. Popular for sunset walks. No entry fee, and you can swim—though the tide can be strong. Food stalls sell grilled fish and sago for cheap. Not postcard perfect, but genuine.

💡 Come at low tide to walk out to the small islands visible offshore. Plenty of locals fishing; you’ll see the real Jayapura rhythm.

Gravelly beach with palm trees and a warung selling cold drinks. The water is clearer than Hamadi. Part of the military base area but civilians can walk in. Good for a peaceful sit. Watch out for waste plastic washed up—not pristine.

💡 Best early morning before 9am, when the light is good and no one is around. If you’re lucky, you might see the army horses being exercised on the sand.

Traditional village where you can see original Sentani tribe houses built on high pillars, priced up with carvings and bark paintings. Lake views are non-negotiable. Barter for souvenirs. Not a curated show—real people live here.

💡 Go on a Sunday morning if you can, when the locals dress up and hold a small market. Ask for a short canoe ride around the lake—costs maybe 20,000 IDR but is worth it.
