Getting Around Huarmey
Cheaper and faster than buses for short hops. Squeeze into a 'Tico' for the Casma ruins (S/10, 45 mins). Hostal María is a 3-block walk from the plaza.
Agree a fixed price before you get in. The ride goes via Panamericana Norte; many drivers stop for ceviche in Casma if you ask.
Book the 'VIP' bus for reclining seats and AC; regular buses are cramped. Get off at the Huarmey toll booth and walk 10 mins to Hostal María — cheaper than a mototaxi from the terminal.
Flag one down just outside the terminal door. Don't pay more than S/5 — locals pay S/3. Tell the driver 'Hostal María, frente al mercado' if they don't know the street.
