Deeper Into Espoo

Morning
Kivenlahti Beach

A sandy beach on the Gulf of Finland, with a long wooden pier, a small playground, and a snack kiosk in summer. Water is clean for swimming. No entry fee.

💡 The pier is excellent for sunset views. Bring a towel—there are free public changing huts but no showers. Bus 148 from Espoon keskus stops nearby.

Nuuksio National Park

A large wilderness area with marked hiking trails, lakes, and rocky ridges. You can walk, swim in summer, or ski in winter. Free entry, but you pay for parking or camping in designated spots.

Getting Around Espoo

HSL Local Bus 82 From 2.80-4.00 EUR (single HSL ticket zone AB or BC) 20 min

If arriving at airport, buy HSL day ticket for zones ABC (12 EUR) to cover all buses and trains. Bus 82 stops right at Serena—ask driver for 'Serena' stop. After 20:00, walk from Nuuksionpää stop (1 km) or order a taxi.

VR Commuter Train + Bus 82 From 6-9 EUR 60 min

Take P or I train to Helsinki central station, switch to U or L train towards Espoo—get off at Espoon keskus, then bus 82 to Serena. Cheaper than taxi but takes planning.

Finnair City Bus + Local Bus 82 From 7-10 EUR 75 min

Take Finnair bus to Helsinki city centre (Kamppi), then catch bus 82 towards Nuuksio. Bus 82 on weekdays ends at 20:00; check HSL app for night alternatives.
