Deeper Into Concepción
The main square in the city centre, site of the proclamation of Chile's independence in 1818. Central fountain, palm trees, and the cathedral opposite. A good meeting point.
🕐 Open 24 hours
💡 Go early morning or late afternoon to dodge the midday heat. The cathedral's interior is free to enter and has interesting modern stained glass.
A riverside promenade along the Biobío River. Benches, cycle path, and open space. Good for watching the river flow or seeing locals fish. Not as manicured as Parque Ecuador.
🕐 Open 24 hours
💡 Bring a snack and sit on the grassy bank near the Puente Llacolen bridge. Traffic noise fades a bit. Avoid after dark — it's isolated in parts.

Moustage
Final Favourites & Departure
A vast cemetery with ornate mausoleums, tree-lined avenues, and monuments to local figures. Gives a peaceful, reflective walk through the city's history.
💡 Look for the large marble mausoleums near the main entrance — many are from the late 19th century. The views from the highest terraces are worth the climb. Quiet on weekdays.

Casino Los Patos
Getting Around Concepción
Official taxi ranks are just outside arrivals. Prepaid fixed-rate tickets from the booth cost around 8,000 CLP – cheaper than flagging one down.
The yellow shuttle van runs hourly – look for 'Aeropuerto' on the front. It drops you at Plaza de la Independencia, a 5-minute walk north of the hotel.
Buy a Bip! card at ticket machines – single paper tickets cost more. Avoid the last 2 carriages during peak hours (crowded).
Bus driver won't have change for large bills. The stop is two blocks east of the hotel – get off at 'Freire / Carrera' and walk west.
