Request a front-facing first-floor room. The first floor puts you above street-level road noise but avoids carrying luggage up the narrow stairs. The Old Wyche Road frontage faces the Malvern Hills, so you get a view over the common without the valley road rumble. The building is a listed cottage with thick stone walls; front rooms are quieter than back ones (gardens face other cottages).

Request a room at the back of the hotel, away from the main road and pub areas – these tend to be quieter and have a more relaxed outlook.

Rooms to avoid

Avoid any room on the second floor if you have heavy suitcases or mobility issues — no lift and stairs are steep, listed-building vintage. Also avoid rooms at the back (garden side) because they overlook neighbouring properties with dogs and bins; plus the kitchen extraction fan runs until 10pm. And skip any room directly over the on-site parking spot — guests come and go at all hours.

Avoid rooms directly above the bar or restaurant, especially on weekend nights, as live music or late voices can carry. Also skip rooms next to the lift or service doors.
