Request a room on the 3rd or 4th floor, facing the rear courtyard (away from the main street). These floors sit above street-level noise and the lift shaft ends on the 4th floor, so you get quieter upper floors without lift vibration.

Avoid rooms on the 1st floor facing the street — they pick up traffic noise from Ilhavo’s main road, and the lift mechanics on this floor can hum at night. Ground-floor rooms near reception also get lobby chatter.
Avoid ground-floor rooms and first-floor rooms directly above the reception or bar. Also steer clear of any room facing the front (Rua da Praia side) as Ilhavo's main road carries early-morning delivery trucks and local traffic.
