Request a room on a higher floor (3rd or 4th) for a quieter stay, as the lower floors may be more prone to street noise from Rua de São Lourenço. The hotel's lift is located on the lobby level, so rooms on higher floors will have a more peaceful experience.
Request a room on the second or third floor facing the garden side. These floors are above street level and away from the narrow Rua do Atafoneiro, so you get decent light and privacy without much passing traffic. Look for room endings with 02-06.
Rooms to avoid
Avoid rooms on the 1st floor, as they may be closer to the street and service entrance, potentially increasing noise levels.
Avoid any room on the first floor – 101, 102 etc. – and any that face Rua do Atafoneiro directly. Ground-floor rooms here suffer from foot traffic noise, and first-floor rooms facing the street get the rumble of delivery vans in the morning. Also skip rooms near the internal staircase on any floor; they pick up clatter from guests and staff.
