Best rooms
Request a room on the second or third floor, at the rear of the building (away from the street). These floors are high enough to reduce street-level noise from taxis and motorbikes on Luxor’s main roads, but still within easy walking distance via stairs if the lift is busy. The rear aspect overlooks quieter courtyards or side streets.
Request a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor facing away from the street (east side of the building) — these floors are high enough to reduce street-level noise but still within easy walking distance via the stairs if the lift is slow.
Rooms to avoid
Avoid ground-floor rooms. They suffer from direct street noise—Luxor’s traffic starts early—and less privacy, as windows often face pavement-level foot traffic. Also skip top-floor rooms if the building lacks a modern lift (common in older 3-star properties): the lift may be small and slow, and these rooms get afternoon heat gain without air-conditioning that matches.
Avoid rooms on the 1st floor, especially those at the front near the reception and street — noise from check-in, luggage handling, and passing traffic carries directly in. Also avoid any rooms adjacent to the lift shaft on any floor (typically the central corridor).
