Request a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor facing the courtyard or rear of the building. These floors are high enough to catch some light but low enough to avoid mechanical noise from any roof equipment, and the rear orientation cuts street noise from the main road.
Request a room on floor 4 or 5, facing the courtyard (rear of the building), away from the main road. These floors tend to be quieter and catch a bit of cross-breeze in hot weather.
Rooms to avoid
Avoid rooms on the 1st floor or directly above the lobby — they’ll get foot traffic noise and possibly kitchen sounds if there’s a restaurant. Also skip rooms facing the street on low floors (1st–2nd) because Algiers has busy roads with cars and motorcycles.
Avoid rooms on floor 1 or 2, especially those facing the front (street side) – street noise from Algiers' traffic and occasional honking carries clearly up to the second floor. Also avoid rooms near the lift shaft on any floor; the lift is old and clanks loudly when passing.
