Things to Do in Canillo

A Romanesque church from the 12th century with a squat bell tower and a simple single nave. Inside there is a gilded baroque altarpiece and faded fresco fragments.

💡 Check the wooden door – it has old ironwork hinges. The church is often unlocked during the day, but if not, ask at the tourist office next door.

💡 Sit on the bench nearest the church around 11am – the morning light makes the mountain ridge behind the square look dramatic. No café here, but there's a bench spot to eat your own sandwich.

A gentle riverside path that follows the Valira d'Orient river upstream through pine forest and open meadows. Good for a two-hour walk without any steep climbing.

💡 Start from the Ransol bridge, not the main road. The trail gets quieter after the first kilometre. Bring water; there's no tap along the way.
