Things to Do in Burgstall - Postal

A flat, paved cycling and walking path that runs along the Adige River. In Burgstall, it cuts through orchards and farmland, with benches and small rest stops. Great for a free stroll or bike ride.

💡 Pick up a free map at the tourist office in Lana (2 km north). The section between Burgstall and Meran is 30 minutes by bike and mostly traffic-free.

A modest 13th-century chapel with Romanesque frescoes on the interior walls. The paintings are faded but genuine, and the quiet interior gives a sense of the area's rural history.

💡 The church is usually unlocked but if it's closed, check the noticeboard on the porch for the keyholder's number – locals are happy to let you in.

A fragment of a Roman water channel built to supply the settlement of Maiensis. The stonework is partially visible along the edge of a field. A small information board gives context.

The ruins of the original medieval castle that gives the village its name. Perched on a small hill, it offers clear views over the Adige Valley and the surrounding apple orchards.

A small, focused museum in a former fruit warehouse. Teaches about apple cultivation in the region through old tools, photographs, and a short film. Covers the orchard cycle from blossom to harvest.
