Austria
Best Time to Visit Söll
Söll is a year-round village in the Austrian Tirol, but its character shifts hard with the seasons. Summer brings hiking and mountain-biking on the Hohe Salve, winter delivers reliable skiing on the SkiWelt circuit. The best time depends on whether you want sun-drenched alpine trails or smooth, uncrowded pistes.
✦ Go in mid-June for perfect hiking weather and uncrowded trails, or mid-January for quiet, snow-sure skiing without the February price hike.
✅ Best months
June and September. In June the lifts are running, days are long and warm, and the summer crowds haven't peaked yet. September offers settled weather, autumn colour starting on the lower slopes, and a quieter village feel before the ski season.
🔥 Peak season
February and August. February is peak ski season – school holidays across Germany and Austria push hotel prices to their highest and the slopes are busiest. August is the summer peak: families fill the valleys, accommodation books weeks ahead, and the main events (like the Söll open-air concerts) draw big crowds.
💷 Shoulder (best value)
Late May and early October. In May the snow has gone, hotels drop rates by 20-30%, and you get quiet hiking and cycling on lower trails (some high lifts stay closed). In October, most summer lifts shut mid-month, but the weather is often crisp and clear, and accommodation is cheap.
🌙 Quietest & cheapest
Late November (before the ski season proper) and mid-April to early May (after the snow melts). In November many hotels and restaurants close for a break; snow is unlikely but the landscape is bare. April/May is muddy and unpredictable – you'll find very few tourists and rock-bottom prices, but little to do outside.
