Burkina Faso
Best Time to Visit Sindou
Sindou, in southwestern Burkina Faso, has a tropical wet-dry climate. The main factor for any visit is the intense heat and the single rainy season from June to September, which makes roads around the Sindou Peaks difficult. The best time balances cooler temperatures with dry, passable conditions.
✦ Go between December and February for the most comfortable hiking weather and access to the Sindou Peaks.
✅ Best months
December and January are the coolest and driest months, with daytime highs around 30°C and clear skies. February is also excellent, with slightly more warmth but still very manageable for hiking.
🔥 Peak season
Peak season runs December to February, driven by the comfortable weather and European holidays. Hotels in Banfora (the nearest base town) often fill up and prices can double from the low season. There are no major local events; the peak is purely weather-driven.
💷 Shoulder (best value)
November and March offer good conditions with fewer tourists. November is still dry, and temperatures are rising but not yet punishing. March can be hot (35°C+) but hotels are cheaper and the peaks are empty.
🌙 Quietest & cheapest
June to September is the rainy season, the quietest and cheapest period. Heavy downpours make unpaved tracks to the Sindou Peaks muddy or impassable. Temperatures are slightly lower but humidity is high. The trade-off is you might not reach the main attraction.

November is a solid shoulder month, especially the second half.
Winter (Dec–Feb)

🎭 Events worth timing a trip around
The Semaine Nationale de la Culture (SNC) in Bobo-Dioulasso, usually in March or April, is the country's biggest arts festival but is about 90km from Sindou. Worth combining with a visit if you time it right, though the heat is intense.
🧳 What to pack
Pack a head torch and waterproof bag for electronics: power cuts are common in the dry season, and dust gets everywhere.
