Best Time to Visit Rtiba

Rtiba is a small coastal town in northern Tunisia, about 60 km north of Tunis. Its Mediterranean climate means summers are hot and dry, winters mild and rainy. You'll get solid beach weather for about four months, with a quieter feel outside the European holiday rush.

✦ Go in late May or early September for the best balance of warm weather, calm streets, and reasonable prices.

✅ Best months

May and September. May has warm days (low-to-mid 20s °C), sea temperatures rising, and few tourists. September matches June's heat but with lower humidity and the crowds gone.

🔥 Peak season

July and August. European school holidays fill the town; hotel prices rise 40-60%. The local August festival (Festival de Rtiba) runs for a week with music and market stalls.

💷 Shoulder (best value)

June and September. June is hot but pre-peak, rooms at 20-30% off. September keeps summer heat without the August crush. October also works if you're fine with cooler evenings.

🌙 Quietest & cheapest

December to February. Cheapest rates (40-50% off peak). Days are 12-16°C, many cafes and stalls shut, and rain comes roughly every other day. Good for solitude, bad for swimming.

🎭 Events worth timing a trip around

Festival de Rtiba (first week of August) — local music, dance, and food stalls. Also the Olive Harvest Festival (late October) with market tours and tastings in town square.

🧳 What to pack

Pack a windproof jacket even in summer: evening sea breezes can drop temperatures quickly, especially from June onward.
