Best Time to Visit Matam
Matam, in northeast Senegal, has a short rainy season from July to September and a long dry season the rest of the year. Heat is the main factor – the city is one of the hottest in the country – so the best time to visit is during the cooler, dry months between November and February.

Magal de Matam (March or April): a major religious pilgrimage drawing thousands of Mouride disciples to the city for prayers and processions. Also the Fouta Cultural Festival (usually December): a local celebration of traditional music, dance, and crafts that sees visitor numbers spike modestly.
