Best Time to Visit Manaus
Manaus has a tropical monsoon climate, so it's hot and humid year-round, but the rain pattern dictates everything from river levels to mosquito numbers. The key choice is between visiting in the dry season (June–November) for easier exploration or the wet season for dramatic flooded forest scenery.

August and September are the sweet spot: the bulk of the heavy rain has passed, river levels are receding but still high for boat trips, trails are drier, and crowds from July have thinned a bit.
🔥 Peak season
July is the peak month. It's the driest stretch, so rainforest treks and trips to the Meeting of the Waters are easiest. Hotel prices jump 30–50% above shoulder season. The Festival Folclórico (end of June/early July) in nearby Parintins draws big crowds, though Manaus itself is busy with domestic tourists.

June and October give you good weather at lower rates. June still has some rain but is much better than earlier wet months; October is drier but hotter, and hotels drop 20–30% from July rates. Fewer tourists in both.
🌙 Quietest & cheapest
January through March is the quietest and cheapest period. It's the heart of the wet season: daily downpours, flooded trails, and higher humidity. Hotel rates can be half of peak. Flights and tours also offer discounts. The trade-off is that many outdoor activities are restricted or less enjoyable.

The Parintins Folklore Festival (end of June/early July) is a major Boi-Bumbá event drawing thousands to the smaller city of Parintins, reachable by boat from Manaus. Also, the Manaus Opera House season runs June–August, with free outdoor concerts.

Bring a lightweight rain poncho that packs to nothing – an umbrella is useless in the humidity, and the rain comes in sudden, torrential bursts even in the 'dry' months.
