Best Time to Visit Makamba
Makamba sits in southern Burundi’s highlands with a mild, two-rain-season climate. The city is quiet year-round, so timing is about weather comfort and road access. The best visits avoid the heaviest rains but don’t bother avoiding locals – there are no crowds.

July is the busiest month, driven by school holidays and the national Peace Day events on 26–28 July. Hotel occupancy edges up but prices stay flat – there’s no real tourist infrastructure to inflate them. Expect local families visiting relatives.
