Best Time to Visit Lecco
Lecco, on the southeastern branch of Lake Como, has a climate that swings from crisp mountain air to sticky summer humidity. Most visitors come between May and September, but the best balance of weather and quiet streets is narrower than you'd think.
✦ Go in May or September: the lake is warm, the trails are clear, and you won't fight for a table on the lungolago.

May and September: warm enough for lake swims and hiking without the August crush, and hotel rates haven't peaked. June is also excellent if you don't mind the build-up to summer crowds.
🔥 Peak season
July and August: Italian holidays and European tourists flood the lakefront. Hotel prices can double, and lakeside parking is a nightmare. The Palio del Baradello (a historical parade and rowing race) in late August adds to the chaos.
💷 Shoulder (best value)
April and October: daytime temps of 13–18°C, far fewer people, and rooms often 30% cheaper than August. Good for hiking and trattorias without queues.
🌙 Quietest & cheapest
November to February: cheapest rates and quietest streets, but many lakeside restaurants and boat services shut. Cold (0–8°C) and often grey, though snow on the Grignetta peaks is beautiful.

Sagra di San Nicolò (first week of December): Lecco's patron saint festival with market stalls, lighting displays, and a small funfair. Palio del Baradello (late August): lake rowing race and medieval pageant along the waterfront.

Even in summer, bring a waterproof jacket and a fleece. The wind off the lake can drop the temperature by 8°C in minutes, and mountain thunderstorms roll in fast.
