Best Time to Visit L-Imsida
L-Imsida, a small town just west of Valletta, has a typical Maltese Mediterranean climate: hot, dry summers and mild, damp winters. Because it's not a major tourist hub, crowds are rarely an issue, but the best time to visit balances comfortable heat for exploring with manageable humidity.
✦ Go in May or October for the best mix of reliable warmth, clear skies, and low prices.
✅ Best months
May and October. May offers warm days (around 24°C), low humidity, and clear skies before the summer heat sets in. October is still warm (around 25°C) with fewer tourists than September and lower hotel rates than peak summer.
🔥 Peak season
July and August. These are the hottest months (averaging 32°C) with high humidity and intense sun. Hotels in nearby Sliema and Valletta can double in price. The main draw is the feast of St. Joseph (festa) in Imsida around the third Sunday of July, which brings locals and some visitors.
💷 Shoulder (best value)
Late September and early November. September still sees summer temperatures but with thinner crowds and dropping prices; November is cooler (around 19°C) and damp but offers the lowest rates of the year, ideal for budget travellers who don't mind rain.
🌙 Quietest & cheapest
December to February. This is the quietest and cheapest period, with daytime highs of 15–17°C and frequent rain. Many restaurants and cafes close for holidays, and some attractions reduce hours. However, you'll have the town to yourself and find very low accommodation prices.

🎭 Events worth timing a trip around
The Feast of St. Joseph (festa) in late July is Imsida's biggest event, with street processions, fireworks, and band marches. In early December, the town hosts a small Christmas market, but it's minor compared to Valletta's.
🧳 What to pack
Pack a windproof jacket or light jumper even in summer: Malta's sea breezes can make evenings feel chilly, and sudden afternoon winds are common in Imsida's narrow streets.
