Best Time to Visit Ganja

Ganja has a continental climate with hot summers and chilly winters. Most visitors come between late spring and early autumn, when the parks are green and the city feels lively.

✦ For the best balance of weather and value, aim for May or September.

✅ Best months

May, June and September. Temperatures are warm (20–28°C), skies are clear, and the crowds are still manageable before and after the peak summer holidays.

🔥 Peak season

July and August. Schools are out and many Azerbaijanis travel, pushing hotel prices 20–30% higher. Juma Mosque and the historic centre get busy, but it's not overwhelming compared to Baku.

💷 Shoulder (best value)

Late April and October. Airfares drop, rooms are 15–25% cheaper, and the weather is still pleasant for walking. You get spring blossoms or autumn colours without the summer heat.

🌙 Quietest & cheapest

December to February. Temperatures hover around 0–8°C, snowfall is occasional, and many outdoor cafes close. Hotels offer the lowest rates of the year, but some sights have shorter hours.

🧳 What to pack

Bring layers: even in summer, evenings cool down quickly in Ganja's dry climate. A light jacket or cardigan is useful year-round.
