Germany
Best Time to Visit Flensburg
Flensburg sits on the Baltic coast at the German-Danish border, so its weather is maritime: mild but changeable. The city sees most of its visitors between May and September, when daylight is long and outdoor life hums along the harbour.
✦ Go in late May or early September for the best mix of decent weather, manageable crowds and reasonable prices.
✅ Best months
May, June and September. May and June bring pleasant temperatures (15–20°C) and fewer crowds than high summer. September offers settled autumn conditions with lower hotel rates.
🔥 Peak season
July and August. School holidays across Germany and Denmark fill the city. Hotel prices can jump 30–50% above shoulder-season rates. The annual Flensburger Kultursommer (cultural festival) runs June–August.
💷 Shoulder (best value)
Late May to mid-June; early September to mid-October. Discounts of 20–40% on accommodation, still decent weather for walking the old town and the waterfront.
🌙 Quietest & cheapest
November through February. Cold (0–5°C), grey, often rainy or snowy. Many harbour cafés close. But hotel rates drop 50% or more, and the Christmas market (late Nov–Dec) is a draw.
