Best Time to Visit Brno
Brno has a continental climate with hot summers, cold winters, and a brief spring and autumn. Crowds peak in late summer around the city's major events, while spring and early autumn offer the best balance of pleasant weather and manageable visitor numbers.
✦ Go in May or September: warm, dry, and the city is lively but not overrun.
✅ Best months
May, June, and September: warm, sunny days (18–25°C) with low humidity. Hotel rates are reasonable outside of the Ignis Brunensis fireworks festival (May–June).
🔥 Peak season
August (and late July): temperatures often hit 30°C+; the city's MotoGP and the Brno Summer Festival drive hotel prices up 40–60% from baseline. The UNESCO World Heritage Villa Tugendhat requires booking weeks ahead.
💷 Shoulder (best value)
April and October: hotel rates drop 20–30% from summer highs. April can be chilly (8–15°C) but flowers are out; October is mild (10–16°C) with good wine harvests in adjacent South Moravian vineyards.
🌙 Quietest & cheapest
November to February: nightly hotel rates can be 50% less than August. Christmas markets in December are a low-key exception. Trade-off: grey skies, short days, and temperatures often near freezing in January.

Good for wine tours in the nearby Znojmo or Mikulov regions.

🎭 Events worth timing a trip around
Ignis Brunensis (fireworks competition, end-May to mid-June) – spectacular but fills hotels. Brno MotoGP (early August) – huge crowds, book transport months ahead.
🧳 What to pack
Even in summer, a light jacket or sweater is essential – evenings cool quickly year-round, and public trams and bars can be draughty.
