Best Time to Visit Bodrum
Bodrum sits on the Aegean coast with a Mediterranean climate: hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The best months balance good weather with tolerable visitor numbers, avoiding both the summer crush and the winter shutdown.
✦ Go in late May or September for the best combination of heat, quiet and value.
✅ Best months
May and September: perfect swimming temperatures (sea around 22–24°C), long daylight hours, and far fewer tourists than July or August. October is also excellent for walking and sightseeing.
🔥 Peak season
July and August: schools out across Europe, temperatures often top 35°C, hotel rates double or triple, and beaches like Gümbet and Bitez are shoulder-to-shoulder. The Bodrum Music Festival in July adds to demand.
💷 Shoulder (best value)
Late April–early May and late September–October: hotel discounts of 30–50% versus peak, still warm enough for swimming, and the main archaeological sites (like the Castle of St Peter) are quiet.
🌙 Quietest & cheapest
November through February: cheapest flights and accommodation, but many hotels, bars and restaurants close for the season. Expect rain, wind and highs of 12–16°C. The Bodrum ferry to Greek islands also stops in winter.
Bodrum season by season
Spring (Mar–May)
Weather: March cool (12–18°C), April pleasant (15–22°C), May warm (20–28°C). Sea still chilly until May.
Crowds: low/moderate
Best for hiking the peninsula, wildflowers and visiting historic sites without queues.
Summer (Jun–Aug)
Weather: 27–35°C, clear skies, sea 25–27°C. Occasional meltemi wind cools things down.
Crowds: high
Peak season for clubbing, boat trips and beach life. Book everything well ahead.
Autumn (Sep–Nov)
Weather: September still hot (25–30°C), October mid-20s, November cooler (15–20°C) and wetter.
Crowds: moderate (Sep) to low (Nov)
September is actually better than June: sea at its warmest, fewer families. Wine harvest tours in October.
Winter (Dec–Feb)
Weather: 8–15°C, frequent rain, short days. Snow possible but rare.
Crowds: very low
Local life only; many tourist services closed. Good for photography, hammam visits and out-of-season rates.
🎭 Events worth timing a trip around
Bodrum Music Festival (July): classical and jazz concerts in historic venues like the Amphitheatre. Bodrum International Bazaar (late May): crafts, food and music on the waterfront.
🧳 What to pack
A light jacket or pashmina for evenings even in summer: the wind off the Aegean can suddenly drop the temperature 10°C after sunset.
