Best Time to Visit Basrah
Basrah has a punishing summer and a mild, short winter. The best visiting windows are spring and autumn, when the heat is manageable and the city is at its most comfortable.
✦ Go in November for the most comfortable weather and a relaxed pace.
✅ Best months
March and November. March is warm but not oppressive, with some chance of rain. November is dry and pleasantly warm, with clear skies and comfortable daytime temperatures.
🔥 Peak season
March. The weather is at its best after winter, and local festivals like the Basrah International Theatre Festival sometimes occur. Hotel prices rise modestly, but the city never feels overcrowded.
💷 Shoulder (best value)
April and October. April sees rising heat but still tolerable, and hotel rates drop. October offers similar mild weather to November but with fewer visitors.
🌙 Quietest & cheapest
July and August. These are the hottest months, with daily highs above 45°C. Cheap rates are the only draw; outdoor activities are essentially impossible during the day.
