Best Time to Visit Badung
Badung, the regency covering Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu and Uluwatu, has a year-round tropical climate with a distinct wet and dry season. The best time to visit depends on whether you prioritise beach weather, surfing conditions, or smaller crowds.

May, June and September. These months have reliably dry, sunny weather with lower humidity than the height of summer, and the crowds are thinner than July–August or December–January.
🔥 Peak season
July and August; also late December to early January. Schools are out across Australia and Europe, so hotel prices can double and beaches get packed. Nyepi (March/April) is a one-day quiet event, but the weeks around Christmas and New Year are the real price spikes.

May, June and September. You'll find 20–30% discounts on accommodation versus July–August, the weather is still dry, and the surf breaks are less crowded.

🎭 Events worth timing a trip around
Nyepi (Day of Silence) in March or April — the whole island shuts down for 24 hours, a unique cultural experience. Also the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival (October), held just north of Badung but a major pull for the whole region.
🧳 What to pack
A lightweight rain jacket or compact umbrella is more useful in Badung than waterproof shoes, because the rain is torrential but brief, and you'll mostly be in sandals.
