Best Time to Visit Aghstafa
Aghstafa sits in western Azerbaijan, near the Georgian and Armenian borders, with a continental climate that brings hot summers and cold winters. The town itself is quiet year-round, but the surrounding Caucasus foothills and historical sites make late spring and early autumn the most comfortable windows for travel.
✦ Go in May or September for the best balance of comfortable weather, green scenery, and very few other tourists.
✅ Best months
May and September: clear skies, temperatures between 15°C and 25°C, and low tourist numbers. The landscape is green in May; harvest season colours the hills in September.
🔥 Peak season
July and August: daytime highs regularly hit 35°C. No major festival drives crowds here—it's more that local families take holidays then. Hotel prices rise 20–30% above shoulder rates, but availability rarely becomes an issue.
💷 Shoulder (best value)
April and October: 10–20% discounts on accommodation, temperatures 10–20°C, and very few visitors. April can be rainy; October is drier and still pleasantly warm for hiking.
🌙 Quietest & cheapest
December to February: the quietest months, with night temperatures dropping below 0°C and occasional snow. Hotels offer 30–40% off peak rates, but daylight hours are short (around 9 hours) and some rural roads may be icy.

🧳 What to pack
Pack layers year-round: Aghstafa's altitude (about 400m) means days can be warm while evenings drop sharply, even in summer. A light jacket is essential from April to October.
