Day 1

Arrive & Explore the Highlights

Morning
Skadarlija

Cobblestone bohemian street with old taverns, art galleries and street musicians. You don't need to eat at the pricey restaurants to enjoy the atmosphere.

🕐 Open 24 hours; street itself always accessible

Free entry

💡 Walk through around 6 pm when musicians start setting up but before the dinner rush. Buy a slice of burek from a bakery on the parallel street instead.

Day 2

Deeper Into Belgrade

Morning
Kalemegdan Fortress

Massive fortress at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. Walk the ramparts, see military museums from outside, watch sunsets over the river.

🕐 Open 24 hours; park and grounds accessible all day

💡 Go through the north gate at dusk to avoid the main tourist crowds. The view from the lower plateau is better than the upper.

Midday
Museum of Contemporary Art

Free entry every Wednesday. Modern Serbian and Yugoslav art from the 20th century onwards, housed in a brutalist building on the Sava riverbank.

🕐 Tue-Sun 10:00-18:00 (closed Mon); free on Wednesdays only

💡 The cafe terrace has excellent, cheap coffee and a direct view across the river to the fortress. Go on a sunny day.

Getting Around Belgrade

Tram 9 From 0.50 EUR (44 RSD with BusPlus card) 12 min

Get off at 'Vojvode Supljikca' — that’s your stop. The hotel is 2 mins walk. Trams can get crowded; avoid Friday evening rush 17:00–18:30.

Beogradski Taxi (official dispatcher) From 15 EUR 25 min

Use the pink taxi dispatcher booth inside baggage claim — they give a fixed-price voucher. Avoid informal touts. Price includes luggage, but tip 1 EUR for good service.

Bus 72 From 2 EUR (180 RSD) 45 min

Buy a BusPlus card at the airport kiosk (300 RSD card fee + top-up). Cash only on bus—exact change rarely works, so card saves hassle.

A1 Shuttle Bus From 5 EUR 35 min

Buy ticket on board. Late-night arrival after 22:30? Take Bus 72 to Zeleni Venac, then a tram (Trams 9 or 10 run all night).
